Learning Curves

This is the first music video I ever cut. The song is Trailer Parked Ghettos. Sang and written by myself and all the footage was shot in my hometown of Blytheville, Arkansas. Fun song, true story!

My first attempt at motion graphics using After Effects. The eggman was my professor of After Effects, John O’brien. Fun and funny teacher. He taught me all my favorite graphics applications. Very encouraging and super honest. Some talented kids came out of his classes. Haley Saner, Nicholas Bochek, Bret Yager, and myself are still kicking ass in the media world. Job well done Eggman!

Some colorizing, rotoscoping, and edit clean ups i did in LA for Pigeon John. Actually it was for Boomspot Productions ran by a fro’d out red head in Venice that I met at the PO. He was wearing an Atmosphere hoodie and i thought he might be from the Twin Cities where i went to college. He wasn’t; just a fan. I told him what I did, he gave me a gig, and there you have it

This PSA was conceived by my video partner in crime Nick Bochek. He was inspired by my footage of these children I shot one day in the park by myself. What a sweet day that was. I am the biggest kid of them all when I get around a pack of children.

Powerful message Bochek was able to pull of here. Simple and basic cuts and graphics, but makes you jump!

Bochek and I called ourselves Digital Scrappers.   This was our Showreel back in the day.  We met in college and have worked on many projects together.  We traveled to Katrina with the our cameras and muscles and almost lost our minds.  Oh yeah, I will definetly be uploading that footage.  I’ll make a page for it!  Bochek is kicking ass in the indie film scene in Minneapolis and we continue to bounce creativity off each other on a regular.

Speaking of bouncing creativity off one another, this video’s lead ‘actour’ is Haley Saner, www.haleysaner.com.  Haley was Bochek’s roomate in college and between the 3 of us, we were a smoking trio.  Each of us just getting our feet wet in the wide world of media.  Haley is currently kicking ass in the mo’ graph world of NYC.   Check out his work, it’s good!

The music is The Deep End.  One of my favorite groups.  I went to school w/ this band and the singer/ songwriter, Jamie Gylan, was/ is  the real thing.  He’s a composer.  This song is one of his earliest recordings.
